The Lane Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Description

The Adelaide Hills has long been regarded as home to Australia’s leading Sauvignon Blanc; the elevated, cool-climate of the region helps deliver crisp, elegantly structured and intensely flavoured examples. The Lane take enormous care in making their Sauvignon Blanc, which is reflected in the high quality of this wine.

The 2023 The Lane Sauvignon Blanc is a quintessential regional example, opening with beautiful lifted aromatics. The vibrant and clean palate is bursting with lime, lemongrass notes and a textural, clean mineral finish. Delivering a level of complexity rarely associated with this variety, this is a wine of enormous appeal and versatility when it comes to pairing with foods.

“Wine Of The Week. 93 Points. Winemaker Turon White is ramping up the quality at this well established Adelaide Hills winery. Sauvignon blanc is a specialty of the region. Aromas of nettle, lime-leaf, dried herbs and lemon juice – straightforward, vibrant and fresh. It smacks of properly ripe fruit. There’s a very smart fruit/acid balance and there are some richer/riper touches, happily avoiding the greener notes. Clean, dry and balanced, with length and charm. Superior fruit concentration and ripeness. Screwcap. 12.5% alc. Ageing: Now to 2028”- Huon Hooke, The Real Review.

“93 Points. Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc often walks a tightrope between über fresh, and herbal, and edging into the world of tropical fruits. In a good, strong vintage like 2023 you get a little bit of each and both work in tune together. Aromas of snow pea and gooseberry combine and mesh with grapefruit, passionfruit with the added piquancy, vibrancy of passionfruit pulp. Certainly grabs your attention. The sunny, juicy Sauvignon works well on the palate with some subtle herbal interplay bolstered by tropical passionfruit lift and pithy bite. Nothing is overstated or too loud. It has to be said, there is also a touch of sweetness. Residual sugar sits at 4.5g/L. I suspect it’s directly in response to some high-ish acidity, the result of a long, cool season. That balance of sweetness and acidity works in the mouth, enlivens the tastebuds and presents a pretty smart wine. Drink: 2023-2026.”- Jeni Port, winepilot.com.
